My Pinterst Obsession

Like most of those who have web access & love to craft (or at least love the idea of crafting), I have discovered Pinterest. Oh, the joys! Oh, the addiction!!! I've found so many wonderful ideas for crafting, diy, home decor, cooking, and the classroom, just to name a few. Also like most, I've pinned waaaaay more things than I'll ever realistically accomplish. But... I can proudly say I have finally actually completed a few of my pins.

Being slightly challenged in the kitchen (mainly due to having the attention span of gnat) I'm always looking for quick and easy dishes that I can manage without making too much of a mess (because, let's face it, my house looks like a tornado hit a gypsy camp the majority of the time). I was thrilled when I came across a recipe for pumpkin cupcakes that only had TWO ingredients. Yep, two. Even I can handle that. Also, on the lookout for a recipe for hashbrown casserole that didn't have onions in it and also met my quick & easy requirements, I found a cheesy-ranch hashbrown casserole recipe.

The pumpkin cupcakes, which I added a dollop of whipped cream cheese icing to (canned, of course) are simply a box of yellow cake mix & a can of pumpkin. After reading the post at Sweet Verbena, I discovered you can also make these with spice cake or even chocolate cake mix... YUM! The hashbrown casserole was easy enough, but I made it even less clean-up by mixing everything in the pan I was going to cook it in. One less bowl to clean? Yes, please. And, even with the bacon bits, which I forgot to put in, it's only 5 ingredients.

I made both recipes for our church's Thanksgiving dinner, Sunday. They were WONDERFUL! Bonus, preparing both recipes only dirtied up one mixing bowl and my beaters. I used disposable pans since I was taking them to church, so that's a consideration when cooking for home, of course. Lil' Man ate all the cupcakes I would let him, there was none of the casserole left after the dinner. Success!

Now, since my kitchen is so clean, I think I'll go finish up my next pin, which is actually two pins in one. I'm working on making magazine organizers and trays out of cereal boxes. Then, I'm using those to organize my pantry. Look for that post soon. With Thanksgiving coming up, and my bestest friend in the world coming in to spend a day diy-ing and catching up, I may not get a chance to post until after the holiday. But, when I do, it's gonna' be great because I've got a LOT of pins to catch up on. HA!

Getting Started

So, I've had this blog page set up for a while, but just haven't done anything with it. I am, admittedly, tech-impaired. (Kinda' sad since my hubby is a tech genius.) So, just bear with me as a trudge along on this whole blogging thing.

Guess I'll start out by introducing myself. Hi, I'm Holli! I'm the creator of Double H Creations, which is the main reason I started this blog, really. Since Facebook changed the rules on promotions, I thought this would be a good way to still have some giveaways. Plus, it's a great way for my fans & customers to get to know me a little better.

I have an awesome hubby & a two-year-old son. Hubs & Lil' Man keep me busy & make my life fun! So, you'll be getting posts about our adventures, along with posts about all the things I'm passionate about & my business & crafty posts.

Honestly, I'm not really sure what direction this blog will end up taking. If it's like my life, it'll be going in all different directions at once!
